Celebrating Impact: Reflections on the 100 Women Gala Dinner 2024

I had the honor of attending the 100 Women Gala Dinner this year, where we celebrated the work of grassroots organizations championing the lives of women and girls across Australia and Cambodia. As a member of the Grants Committee, it’s always inspiring to see the impact that targeted support can make.

This year, 100 Women awarded $211,005 to five impactful initiatives, selected from over 164 applicants. These grants support programs that may otherwise struggle to secure funding, filling a vital gap and empowering them to scale and attract future support. These projects will directly impact the lives of 323 women and girls, a testament to the power of collaboration and focused giving.

2024 Grant Recipients

Here’s a closer look at the five recipients and the difference they’re making:

  • Homeless Healthcare – This project provides crucial nursing and outreach services to pregnant women experiencing homelessness, creating stability for both mother and child.
  • The Warrior Woman Foundation – Supporting young women transitioning out of the foster care system, this initiative focuses on mentorship and life skills, fostering resilience among some of our most vulnerable young women.
  • Big hART – Through leadership and arts programs grounded in cultural connection, this initiative empowers young Aboriginal women in Roebourne, WA, helping them embrace their heritage and develop valuable life skills.
  • Free to Shine – Operating in Cambodia, Free to Shine helps at-risk girls stay in school and avoid trafficking by providing essential education, resources, and community support.
  • Ember Connect – Focusing on First Nations women, Ember Connect builds social capital and economic independence through mentorship and leadership programs that foster community-driven growth.

Recognizing All Finalists

In addition to the five grant recipients, the 100 Women Gala recognized three other extraordinary finalists, each making strides in their communities. Each received $2,000 in support to further their missions:

  • Diversity Arts Australia – Fosters inclusivity in arts industries for women from diverse backgrounds, helping create a more multicultural and representative arts community.
  • Muslim Women’s Support Centre WA – Provides essential resources, safe spaces, and support services tailored to the unique challenges faced by Muslim women in Western Australia.
  • Waves of Wellness Foundation – Using surf therapy, this organization empowers women to overcome trauma and build resilience through mental health workshops and community connection.

A Special Year with ReimagineHR

I was thrilled to host a table this year, inviting both men and women to engage in these vital conversations around women-led change. Bringing diverse voices together is critical to progressing gender equality, and it was fantastic to see supportive men in the room, engaged in meaningful dialogue around the future of women’s rights.

Looking Ahead: The Ripple Effect of Collective Action

To everyone who contributed to the evening, thank you for helping fuel these incredible initiatives. Each finalist is a beacon of resilience, dedication, and community impact. Their work reminds us that collective action can create a ripple effect, impacting not just the present but paving the way for future generations.

Let’s keep building awareness, inspiring action, and celebrating those who make a difference. Here’s to an impactful year ahead!
